As ANKON Consulting, we attended the event titled “Insights from COP30, Outlook on the COP31 Process,” organized by the Sustainable Economy and Finance Research Association (@sefiaorg) on December 16.
During the panel, where the outcomes of COP30 were discussed and key messages regarding the COP31 agenda were shared, there was a strong consensus that the main focus of COP29 was “finance,” COP30 emphasized “adaptation,” and COP31 is expected to center on “mitigation.”
Key highlights of COP30 included the financing gap, geopolitical tensions, and the implications of the United States’ withdrawal from the Paris Agreement.
It was emphasized that Türkiye’s hosting of COP31 presents significant political, diplomatic, and societal opportunities, and that the relationship between climate policies, sustainable finance, and implementation capacity will become even more critical in this process.
