Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) Project is part of the Southern Gas Corridor, which aims to transport natural gas from Shah Deniz 2 Gas Field and other fields in the South Caspian Sea to Turkey and Europe in Azerbaijan. The Southern Gas Corridor comprises the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), TANAP and the Trans- Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
The TANAP corridor starts from the Georgia/Turkey border at Türkgözü/Posof/Ardahan where it connects to SCP and ends at the Turkey/Greece border in İpsala/Edirne, where it feeds into the TAP Pipeline. There is an off-take station at Eskişehir, Turkey, and another one at Thrace, Turkey to connect to the Turkish natural gas distribution network.
The Pipeline System will be an approximately 1,810 km long buried natural gas pipeline and an 18 km Marmara crossing subsea pipeline including all above and below ground facilities. These facilities will include the pipeline, compressor stations, metering stations, off-take stations, pressure reduction and metering stations (PRMS), block valve stations, SCADA, telecom and control systems, and other related equipment and installations in the Republic of Turkey starting at the Turkish-Georgian border, traversing twenty (20) provinces (Ardahan, Kars, Erzurum, Erzincan, Bayburt, Gümüşhane, Giresun, Sivas, Yozgat, Kırşehir, Kırıkkale, Ankara, Eskişehir, Bilecik, Kütahya, Bursa, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Tekirdağ, and Edirne) and ending at an exit point at the Turkish-Greece border. Within the scope of TANAP Project, a connection line from Eskişehir off-take location is planned to be constructed to supply natural gas demand of Turkey. The construction of the Eskişehir connection line (lateral line) will be undertaken by BOTAŞ (Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Corporation) in the forthcoming phases of the Project.
The construction of TANAP has been divided into four lots, Lot 1 starts from Ardahan/Posof/Türkgözü village ends in Erzurum/Aşkale/Toplaçavuş village, Lot 2 starts from Erzurum/Aşkale/Güneyçam village ends in Sivas/Yıldızeli/Ekecik village. Lot 3 starts from Sivas/Yıldızeli/Şeyhalil-Selçuklu quarter ends in Eskişehir/Odunpazarı/Kıravdan village. Lot 4 starts from Eskişehir/Odunpazarı/Karapazar village and ends in Edirne/İpsala/Sarıçalı village (approx. 510 km).
