About the Social and Economic Cohesion through Vocational and Technical Education Project:
The “Social and Economic Cohesion through Vocational and Technical Education Project” (SEUP), carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education and the German Development Bank (KfW), was implemented by ANKON Consulting under the leadership of GFA Consulting Group. The project, which began its first phase in 2018, involved the renovation of 1187 workshops in 8 pilot provinces of Turkey. With a budget of 50 million Euros, benefiting 92,554 students, the project fostered partnerships with the private sector, taking significant steps towards collaboration in production, employment, and education.
The project involved numerous efforts aimed at enhancing the quality and accessibility of vocational and technical education, improving educational environments, providing support for attendance, and raising awareness of the opportunities offered by vocational and technical education. Within the scope of the SEUP Project, workshops and laboratories of 55 vocational and technical schools in 8 pilot provinces (Adana, Bursa, Gaziantep, Hatay, Istanbul, Mersin, Kilis, Şanlıurfa) were upgraded to meet technological advancements. A total of 1187 workshops were renovated, supporting 21 vocational fields.
In the project, which benefited 92,554 students, in addition to technical support, the needs of students who couldn’t continue their education due to economic reasons such as transportation, lunch, clothing, bags, and stationery were also met. Support was provided for various activities such as sports, arts, and culture, enabling students to strengthen their social skills.
The support provided by the SEUP Project for employment, regional, and national development, as well as its contributions to the improvement of vocational and technical education, will continue to increase in the project’s second phase. In this new period, named “SEUP II,” additional provinces, including Ankara, Izmir, Kahramanmaras, Kocaeli, Konya, and Mardin, have been included. With the addition of 56 schools in 15 new vocational fields to the project, SEUP will continue its work effectively and efficiently in a total of 111 schools across 14 provinces.
