Within the frame of the Fisheries Project, Spain and the Netherlands study visits have been successfully completed! During those study visits, Europe’s leading fisheries and aquaculture production facilities and fish farms have been investigated on site. The delegates have been informed about electronic auctioning systems, different aquaculture products, different selling practises carried out in Europe and related EU regulations through their visits to Producer Organizations, auctioning halls and wholesale marketplaces.

The Delegates made an official visit to Spain Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food – Secretariat General for Fisheries in the Spain programme held between 21-27 November.  The Delegation found an opportunity to scrutinize the TRAPEZES application that is the main tool to follow up fish products first sale at auctioning halls. The Spain Ministry that is the central competent authority responsible from fisheries and aquaculture management, made a presentation to the delegates regarding how TRAPEZES application works at central level and also its software.

With respect to The Netherlands study visit, held between 28th November – 3th December, the Delegates visited Europe’s leading and cutting edge electronic fish auctioning halls, fish farms, production establishments and also found an opportunity to see fish handling and processing facilities on site.

The Project entitled “Technical Assistance for Capacity Building for Fisheries Producer Organisations and Provincial Agricultural Directorates In Line with Common Market Organısation (CMO) of Common Fisheries Policy (CFP)” being implemented by the ANKON Consulting, in consortium with INCATEMA, SPAIN and PESCARES, ITALIA. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to Turkey’s gradual alignment with EU legislation in the area of fisheries. And the purpose is to enhance the technical and institutional capacity of fishery producer organisations and the MoAF (the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry) regarding alignment with the requirements of Common Market Organisation of Common Fisheries Policy in Turkey within the scope of Chapter 13 of the acquis.
