The overall objective of the project developed by The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC – OIC) is to empower Libyan entrepreneurs, start-ups, and SMEs through facilitating new sustainable businesses creation and growth via providing a highly-integrated business development services and match-making facilities in partnership with the Turkish SMEs ecosystem. This will definitely lead to a more developed economy, less unemployment rates, new sustainable jobs creation, new products and services and more strategic linkages between business development programs with the local institutions. In this scope, following key tasks will be undertaken:

  • Provide an appropriate environment for SMEs and start-upsto develop their innovative ideas for their businesses growth and access to markets strategies though establishing a business incubator in Turkey that is dedicated to offer innovative means for access to markets, knowledge transfer, and smart partnerships models.
  • Build the Capacity and strengthen the Libyan entrepreneurs, SMEs, mentors, and business development services providersthrough providing entrepreneurship training and on-job internship program in partnership with Turkish SMEs incubators and zones, and private companies.
  • Facilitate the development of new and existing SMEsthrough offering access to new markets mechanisms, building smart partnerships with Turkish ecosystem. This includes raising their standards and creating new opportunities

The overall objective of the project is to facilitate the reunification of Cyprus by encouraging the economic development of the Turkish Cypriot community with particular emphasis on the economic integration of the island, on improving contacts between the two communities and with the EU and on preparation for the acquis.

The following services will be provided within the scope of this Project:

  • To contribute to the preparation of grant schemes, including providing input for drafting guidelines.
  • To support the launching and evaluation phase of grant schemes
  • To provide capacity building (including trainings) to potential applicants and other relevant stakeholders
  • To support the monitoring and implementation of the awarded projects, also including ex-post monitoring of closed projects
  • To take over the Monitoring Information System (MIS), keep it updated and maintained

The TVET support program represents a highly relevant and timely contribution to address major education, poverty and migration challenges that have arisen in Turkey as side effects of the ongoing war in Syria, where a recent cessation of hostilities has not yet translated into durable and just pacification.

The objective of this Project is to:

  • bridge the education gap created by war and displacement
  • respond to the educational needs of Syrians in Turkey
  • utilize Turkey’s education infrastructure and expertise
  • build on Turkey’s success of developing industrial clusters
  • capitalize on private sector opportunities for training and employment

Strengthening Special Education Project Part II started on 7 January 2014 for a duration of 10 months. The project is based in Ankara.The purposes of this contract were to create new opportunities for individuals with special education needs, improve educational setting, increase their access to education and contribute to their inclusion with the society through in-service trainings and procurement of new psychological measurement tools Pearson and Woodcock Johnson. These tools are to be standardized to Turkish curriculum, culture and learning abilities. The TA contract had to meet 5 results at the end of the Project:

  • The improvement of Quality of educational diagnosis and assessment services in GRCs
  • Standardization of Pearson Tools
  • Collection of trial data in the implementation stage in Woodcock Johnson III
  • Capacity building of the guidance teachers

This contract aims at strengthening the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies’ General Directorate of Services for Disabled Persons and Elderly (DG), and civil society organisations (CSOs) operating in the disability field and social inclusion of vulnerable groups.
In the scope of the contract, ANKON provides the local project management as well as provision of experts and support staff.
The following services are given;

  • Training on disability, social inclusion of vulnerable groups, etc. will be delivered to the relevant CSOs,
  • Projects in the context of a grant scheme will be monitored by site visits,
  • Training on grant project implementation, preparation of final report will be delivered to the grant beneficiaries,
  • Assistance to grant beneficiaries on procurement of supplies, implementation procedures, contract amendments, report writing, etc. The grant projects will be monitored by a Web-based online monitoring tool called the monitoring information system (MIS). The consultant will make the fully operational MIS through the pre-established project website,
  • Study tours for staff from the DG will be arranged in order to benefit from the best practices of the EU Member States in the field of disability. The consultant will assist the DG in the preparation and dissemination of the GAP analysis report in the field of disability in the wake of the completion of the study visits,
  • Training programme on project management for the DG (PCU) staff in order to strengthen capacity and improve project management skills of the DG (PCU) staff members will be arranged,
  • Dissemination and publicity activities will be held.

In a locally funded “Child Friendly City” project that was carried out in 31 October 2012 – 30 December 2012, ANKON conducted trainings with 30 participants for each session and for over 90 hours to canalize the knowledge and sharing levels of more than 20 stakeholders in a common ground. Within the scope of the above project ANKON Consulting has also coordinated and provided the consultancy and organization services of the 1st symposium that was realized on the 6th and 7th of May 2014 at Ankara Chamber of Commerce.

In the symposium, the issues such as “the Children Universities in Turkey, the Physical Safety of the Educational Environments, the Value and the Rights of Children, etc.” have been discussed. Throughout the symposium many communication activities have been carried out in order to raise awareness towards the rights of the children all across Ankara.

Among the visibility and promotion activities there was publication of ten banners which showed the overall story of the project, fully implemented by ANKON.

Strengthening Special Education Project has started on 16 March 2011 for a duration of 30 months. The project was based in Ankara and covered 40 pilot schools and 28 Guidance and Counselling Centres (RAMs) in 10 pilot provinces.

The main results to be achieved include:

  • Development of policy recommendation on inclusive special education
  • Increasing awareness for inclusion of the disabled in the society
  • Increasing professional qualifications of teachers on special needs education in pilot provinces
  • Implementation of “School without Barriers Model” designed for the learning needs and characteristics of each individual in pilot provinces
  • Improvement of quality of educational diagnosis and assessment services in RAMs
  • Improvement of quality of work and vocational training for the disabled individuals
