As TENMAK, as part of the preparations for the Turkey Hydrogen Action Plan—which we are currently drafting on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in collaboration with the World Bank to complement the ‘Turkey Hydrogen Technologies Strategy and Roadmap’ document we published in 2023—we have now moved into the second phase, during which the document will be finalised. Accordingly, a kick-off meeting was held with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, TENMAK, the World Bank and the project team. Scheduled to be shared with the public in November 2025, the action plan will serve as a roadmap to strengthen the role of hydrogen in environmental sustainability and the transition to a low-carbon economy, with a particular focus on our country’s 2053 net-zero emissions target.

How can Turkey scale up clean hydrogen? To address this question, key stakeholders gathered in Istanbul on 10 July at the invitation of the Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mining Research Institute (TENMAK), the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey and the World Bank. Over 70 representatives from the private sector, academia and civil society attended the meeting.
